Chicago International REEL Shorts Film Fest
March 18th and 19th, 2022

This Year's fest features the best short films from throughout the world.  Comedies, action, drama, Horror, Demented, arts,  we are showing a little of everything!  So get tickets while you can!  


We will be showing this years films Mar. 18-19, 2022 at the Chicago Filmmakers Theater,  1326 W. Hollywood Ave., Chicago, IL 60660

Tickets to this year’s festival will be available through this website (via Paypal), we do not have a convenience fee like most other ticket vendors. Tickets will also be available before each show begins.

"Death Is Smoking My Cigars" is a poem published in 1987 by the American author Charles Bukowski (1920–1994). The poem has long been a favourite of the core Misfit Productions team. It evokes a life-affirming defiance which is core to the ethos of the studio's founder, AJ Leon. As a tribute to one of our favourite pieces, we undertook the first ever animated adaptation of Bukowski's poem, combining a rousing reading with a lush, original aesthetic.

In their head, they use their art form, performative puppetry, to process and wrangle with their experience. From the lowest lows to the highest highs, every moment is reflected in their mind’s eye.

Over the course of the film the hero is forced to grapple with their sense of self worth, the value of their artistry, and the specifics of their identity as they are denied, demeaned, and ultimately uplifted by a variety of Strangers in the world around them.
